This Week on RVSpot: 99 New Parks Across 12 States (Week of May 8, 2026)

RVSpot added 99 new parks across 12 states this week, bringing the total directory to over 925 parks. We published two new destination guides, and refreshed two of our most-read planning articles with 2026 data. Here's everything that's new — organized by state so you can find what's relevant to your next trip.

New Parks Added This Week

This week's additions span both well-known RV corridors and underserved areas that haven't had solid coverage until now. Here's the breakdown by state.

Mississippi — 12 New Parks

Mississippi's Gulf Coast corridor now has the coverage it deserves. We added 12 parks from Biloxi east toward Ocean Springs, plus several along the Natchez Trace Parkway — one of the most scenic and underrated RV routes in the South. The Natchez Trace is a designated National Parkway with no commercial traffic, making it a genuinely different driving experience. If you're planning a Southern loop in spring or fall, these additions give you far more overnight options than were previously listed on RVSpot.

Oklahoma — 12 New Parks

Route 66 enthusiasts and Great Plains travelers now have 12 new Oklahoma parks to choose from. The spread covers Tulsa's riverfront parks (popular with longer stays and work-from-RV travelers), the Grand Lake O' the Cherokees region for water-access sites with boat launches, and Will Rogers country parks near Claremore and Vinita. Oklahoma has warm springs and a long shoulder season without the intense summer heat of Texas — a good state to revisit if you've only treated it as a drive-through.

South Dakota — 9 New Parks

South Dakota's Black Hills corridor is one of our most-requested areas, and this week we added 9 parks spanning Mount Rushmore approaches, Custer State Park entry roads, the Badlands western entrance, Sturgis (busy year-round despite its rally association), and Deadwood. The Badlands and Black Hills parks book fast from May through September. If you're planning a summer trip, add these to your calendar now — many of the best sites go months in advance, especially for larger rigs.

Nebraska — 10 New Parks

Nebraska gets overlooked as an RV destination, but the Platte River corridor is a world-class birding migration route in spring, and the Sandhills region is striking, quiet, and genuinely off the beaten path. We added 10 parks including Omaha suburban options for urban amenities, parks near Chimney Rock (the most recognizable Oregon Trail landmark), and two Sandhills properties with minimal neighbors and dark skies. Good stopover options for I-80 cross-country travelers and anyone interested in the Great Plains.

West Virginia — 8 New Parks

New River Gorge became a National Park in 2020 and is still building out its RV infrastructure around the park boundaries. We added 8 West Virginia parks — a cluster near the Gorge for whitewater and climbing access, two near Harpers Ferry for Appalachian Trail day hikes, and several in the Potomac Highlands for quieter mountain stays. West Virginia terrain is dramatic but tight: mountain access roads and narrow sites mean big rigs need to check rig-fit data carefully before booking.

Alaska — 6 New Parks

Alaska is our most-requested state for coverage and we're building it out systematically. This week: a Denali corridor park for the main park entrance, two Anchorage parks (better than most expect for urban access — good base for Kenai Peninsula day trips), one near Fairbanks for Aurora season visitors, a Kenai Peninsula option, and Seward — one of the most scenic RV destinations in North America, with glacier access and Resurrection Bay views. Alaska parks book months ahead in peak season; June through August is effectively sold out for premium sites by February.

Hawaii — 5 New Parks

Hawaii RV travel works differently than mainland camping — rental rigs, shorter driving distances, and a culture focused on beach and crater access rather than park-to-park road tripping. We added parks on Maui (near Haleakala), the Big Island (near Volcanoes National Park), Oahu near North Shore, and Kauai. Treat Hawaii parks as staging bases for island activities rather than destination camps in themselves.

New Mexico — 10 New Parks

New Mexico is one of the most diverse RV destinations in the Southwest. Our 10 new parks span Santa Fe's cultural corridor, Taos art scene approaches (with some of the best high-desert scenery in the country), Carlsbad Caverns (early-morning cave tours with good nearby overnight options), and White Sands National Monument. Elevations vary dramatically — Santa Fe parks sit near 7,000 feet, which means cool nights even in July. Plan for 3-4 nights minimum in this state.

Arkansas — 8 New Parks

The Arkansas Ozarks are having a cultural moment. Bentonville has become a serious destination anchored by Crystal Bridges Museum and one of the most developed mountain biking trail networks in the country — think Moab but with more trees and lower elevation. We added 8 parks including Bentonville-adjacent options, Fayetteville, Eureka Springs (a quirky Victorian-era arts town with strong camping culture), Little Rock corridor parks, and Fort Smith for I-40 travelers.

Iowa — 8 New Parks

Iowa fills a gap in our Midwest corridor coverage. The 8 parks include Des Moines suburban options, Iowa City parks near the university (popular for college football fall travel), Dubuque's Mississippi River parks with bluff views, Sioux City's Missouri River access for trans-Midwest routes, Quad Cities for the Illinois/Iowa border crossing, and Ames for central Iowa stopover needs. Not glamorous, but genuinely useful for cross-country I-80 travelers who want to break up the drive.

Delaware — 6 New Parks

Small state, high beach demand. Delaware's Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, and Bethany Beach parks are popular with East Coast RVers during summer, particularly for families who want Atlantic beaches without the New Jersey price points. We added 6 parks covering the coastal corridor. These fill up in June through August — if you're planning a beach summer, get these on your radar now and book early.

Kansas — 5 New Parks

Kansas rounds out the I-70 corridor with 5 parks covering Wichita, Kansas City, Topeka, Lawrence (University of Kansas — popular in fall), and Dodge City for Route 66 and Old West history. Solid stopover infrastructure for cross-country trips, less interesting as a destination in itself unless you're specifically doing the Route 66 or Oregon Trail routes.

Also This Week

The Wi-Fi guide now reflects the current internet hierarchy (Starlink Roam → T-Mobile Home Internet → park Wi-Fi) with 2026 pricing throughout.

Platform Updates

Park ratings on every listing. Park pages display each park's Google rating and review count, clearly attributed to Google — so you can gauge guest sentiment before you call the owner.

Article schema added to all guides. JSON-LD Article schema is now injected into every published guide, making all RVSpot articles eligible for Google rich results and improved search appearance.

Cross-linking between related guides. Related-reading blocks are now appearing in-body between topically connected articles — hookup guides link to amenities guides, full-time cost breakdowns link to connectivity guides, and so on. This improves both navigation and topical authority signals for search.
